“DECEPTION OF RICHES”
Mike Teel, Pastor
Focal Passage: I Timothy 6:17-19 17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
God has blessed me with more than I need. I am rich.
I will not trust in RICHES, but in HIM who richly provides.
Our Enemy Wants You To Serve MONEY
Money Promises What Only GOD Can PROVIDE
What does money promise?
Happiness: If you have enough money you’ll be happy.
Security: If you have enough you will finally be secure.
People Who Love Money
What is an indication that we love and trust money?
1. Never have ENOUGH.
Proverbs 18:11 (NLT)
2. Find it increasingly difficult to GIVE.
Most studies indicate those who give the largest percent,
on average, in our country are those who make below $12K a year.
Those who make the least, give the highest percentage.
3. Have money in the bank but no PEACE in their hearts.
LIVE IT OUT
1. Are you satisfied with your salary and possessions? Why or why not?
2. How does fear of not having enough affect your ability or willingness to give?
3. Are you rich in what matters most?
