DAVID: USED OF GOD
FOCAL PASSAGE: 1 Samuel 16:11; 17:17-18; 17:26
"THE LORD'S LOOK" - 1 Samuel 16:7
7But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
1. "A WILLING LAD" - 1 Samuel 16:11… 11And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
David was FAITHFUL where he was.
David was DELIGENT with his responsibilities.
David was willing to be FLEXIBLE (willing to go).
2. "A CONCERNED DAD" - 1 Samuel 17: 17-18… 17And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren; 18And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.
The father was CONCERNED for the WELFARE of his boys.
The father was making PROVISION for them.
3. "A BELIEVER MAD" - 1 Samuel 17:26… 26And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
David was willing to be AVAILABLE.
David was not INTIMIDATED by loud talk.
David made good on a PROMISE.
HOW DO WE LIVE THIS OUT?
> Know who you are in Christ.
> Be available.
> Don't fear.
