SECRETS OF THE VINE: Abiding Principle of Prayer -Skills
KEY PASSAGE: John 15:7-8 (NKJV) 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
BAG LUNCH OR BANQUET MEAL
Two reasons people miss out on great prayer times with God:
1. LACK OF DESIRE
2. NO PRACTICAL STRATEGY FOR DAILY PRAYER
GAME PLAN FOR DAILY DEVOTED TIME
1. PREPARATION TIME
2. WAITING TIME OR QUIET TIME
Isaiah 40:31 (NASB)
I Kings 19: 11-12 (NKJV)
Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Wait for three things:
> Let God love you.
> Let God search you.
> Let God show or direct you.
3. PRAISE TIME
4. THANKSGIVING TIME
Luke 17:12-19 (NIV)
We too often are like the lepers. We ask, God grants and we forget until next time.
5. CONFESSION TIME
Here are five things to keep in mind about confession:
> Confess sin immediately.
> Never allow your position to keep you from confessing sin.
> God is never surprised by what we do, so be honest.
> God will always tell us when we’ve done something wrong.
> When sin is tolerated, it increases.
6. INTERCESSION TIME
I Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV)
7. PETITION TIME
> Pray with the attitude of “Thy will be done.”
> Be honest with your feelings, problems and needs.
8. APPLICATION TIME
John 14:23-24 (NIV)
