WHAT JESUS WANTS FOR THE CHURCH
These passages are our marching orders, our mandate from God.
JESUS’ PRAYER FOR BELIEVERS
Remember, the church is simply a body of baptized believers who assemble together to accomplish the will of God.
Notice the record of Jesus’ prayer for us in John 17:9-24.
FIVE PRAYER REQUESTS OF JESUS
1. THAT PEOPLE WOULD SENSE THE GLORY OF GOD
Howard Hendricks once said, “The church does not need more workers; it needs more worshippers!”
2. THAT WE WOULD FOLLOW THE WORD OF GOD
When people in the church are continually studying and learning Scripture, they begin to change... Acts 8:26-31
3. THAT WE WOULD BE UNITED IN THE LOVE OF GOD
I John 4:7-12
4. THAT WE WOULD GO FORTH IN THE MISSION OF GOD
The word “SANCTIFY” means to be set apart and equipped for a special mission.
Revelation 2:4 (NKJV)
5. THAT WE WOULD EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF GOD
HOW CAN I PRAY FOR THE CHURCH?
1) PRAY CONTINUALLY... I Thessalonians 5:16-18
2) PRAY STRATEGICALLY
3) PRAY GEOGRAPHICALLY
4) PRAY POWERFULLY
LIVE IT OUT
> What adjustments do you need to make to be the detonator for your church?
> Would you come this morning and make a stand to say you are going to pray for our church?
> Some of you realize you need a relationship with the Lord Jesus and you need to come and be saved, join the church, follow the Lord in baptism or recommit your life to Christ.
