YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE: When The Battle Is Over
KEY FOCAL PASSAGE: Joshua 22:1-5
BARGAINING With God For What We Want!
1. GOD’S PERFECT WILL
2. GOD’S PERMISSIVE WILL
Numbers 32: 28
3. How often do we settle for GOOD and not the BEST?
We love to bargain and promise God things to get what we want.
FIGHT HARD FOR THE VICTORY
1. FULFILL OUR OBLIGATIONS
Joshua 14:10-12 (Caleb’s Mountain)
2. BECOME BORDERLINE BELIEVERS
3. SITTING ON THE SIDELINES
GONE AND DISCONNECTED
1. REMEMBER US
In Joshua 22:10-34 there is a misunderstanding that develops between the 10 ½ tribes in the Promise Land and the 2 ½ tribes headed back across the Jordan River.
This is why we have so much failure in our churches today. We don’t want to forsake our besetting sins. We want the best of both worlds. We want the purity of God and hang on to the lust of this world –and it doesn’t work.
2. DRIFTED AND DEVOURED
As they drifted back across the Jordan River they became less involved in the worship of the true God
Later they were the first that began to worship the gods of Moab.
Eventually became the first victims of the Assyrians as God began to use them to punish Israel for their disobedience and forsaking the One True God.
Joshua closed out his life with this challenge: Joshua 24:14-15
The choice is yours.
LIVE IT OUT
> What bargains are you making with God? Are you settling for less instead of more; good instead of best?
> Have you given up the fight? Have you stopped serving God and started serving self?
> How are you being devoured by the evil one today?
> Why don’t you decide today to get back into the Christian life with vim and vigor next week?
